To Whom It May Concern: 

            I have operated my own Automation Systems Integration Company since 1989. The last 19 years working as an automation engineer has given me the opportunity to work in a wide variety of industrial and institutional areas. My experience has not been limited to a single industry or hardware platform. This diversity has given me a very broad background in systems design, configuration, programming and commissioning of a variety of hardware platforms. Most of the systems I have had the opportunity to work on have included an HMI, DCS, or operator panel component. In addition I have had to set up third party interfaces using communications gateways, converters, and protocol processors.
            Operating Techmatic Control Solutions has given me the opportunity to design process control systems for oil and gas, manufacturing, packaging, agricultural, and water / waste water treatment equipment, as well as implement state of the art computer based security and environmental systems. My systems can be found maintaining security in jails and courthouses in Alberta, at the University of North Carolina monitoring environmental conditions in laboratories, across Western Canada in grain terminals and hay processing plants, At both Albian Sands and Syncrude’s oil sands plant in Northern Alberta, and in manufacturing, food processing plants, and water/waste water treatment installations from Atlanta to northern Alberta. 
            I began as a one-man shop do all of the business development, contract administration, design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning my self. The end result is the skills and confidence to operate in any area of the automation and controls industry from engineering design specification to commissioning. I have had the opportunity to publish brochures and related business development documents and use those tools to sell the project. Write the contracts and produce all design documents and drawings. Fabricate, install, and connect panels and cabinets. Produce control narratives, program the controllers, configure the HMIs, write and conduct FAT and SAT, swing over and commission the systems, and then publish O&M manuals and project deliverables.
            I have had the opportunity to work with the following hardware platforms: Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE Fanuc, Modicon, Omron, Idec, Koyo, Triconex, Liaison, MTL, and Honeywell. These systems have also included IFix, Wonder Ware, Process Windows, and LSA and LSB HMI systems, a wide variety of operator panel interface equipment, and both Honeywell Experion and Emerson Delta V DCS platforms.
            I have grown my business from that 1 man shop to a 14,000 square foot fabrication plant with 27 employees. My process control systems can be found across Canada and the USA. I now operate as an independent contractor and consultant. I have the skills, experience, and drive to make a positive impact on any project I am involved with.

Prior to May 1989   

            I worked as an applications engineer for control distributors specializing in automation and control systems. This included technical programming assistance, sensor application, and field service.  Prior to that I worked as an apprentice and then a journeyman electrician working mostly with control, intercom, and fire alarm systems.
